Was having a problem connecting to a Netgear wifi extender. Googled a support number and this came up. Called it without thinking. Indian guy who said his name was Paul Harris told me my local network was infected. I stupidly allowed him to take remote access. He showed me the number of devices using my network and the presence of the csrss.exe file, saying it was a trojan. He then created an 'action plan' to clean things up. When he said this would cost 149.99 US dollars the alarm bells went off. Definitely a scam and a clever one. The same number is used for an unofficial Apple support site. Stay away!

As above, had message -written and verbal-about problem and had to phone this Freephone number or my computer would be blocked!!! I'm not that tech savvy but boy do they make it seem they are from Microsoft, after about an hour or him fiddling with my computer and asking for certain details, once he asked for bank details knew then it was a big scam. Computers and not that safe eh even with firewalls and security- doh-what can I do!!!

my stepson went on a dodgy website you can use your imagination what site this was. This was only a one off time.anyway the next thing the computer froze and a voice saying you have been hacked, your security on your cards has been compromised over and over and to ring the number now 08000465212.My partner let in have access to the laptop.. against my wishes, he put then accessed the laptop put asked my partner to put some code in, and then he said it would be £299 to fix the problem..my partner said he wasn't paying the money and then ended the call.
