Received a message from Halifax saying I will shortly receive an SMS from them to confirm recent activity. Then the above number sent a SMS saying my debit card ending XXXX was used for O2 PAY & GO for £30.00. They asked to confirm yes or no if this was me. Didn't reply. Faking the first message was clever though. Apparently it's easy to do this- if the sending server puts 'Halifax' as the sender name, then your phone helpfully groups it with any previous legitimate messages from them so it all appears on the same conversation thread.
