Indian accent caller claiming to be from Microsoft. Said my laptop hacked and will become unusable for ever if I use it. Said urgent i.isten to their advice. I asked to speak to their manager- another Indian accent who got very animated and insistent. Quite threatening.

Just had this this afternoon, called himself Peter Williams! With an Indian accent?? They were manipulating my screen which was very uncomfortable!,told me some one was trying to buy a £600 smart phone using my details, crunch came when they wanted €400 for protection! told them to p***s off.Computer now switched off ‘till I can get it cleaned up.

Someone with an Indian accent calling himself Phil Jones spent an hour on the phone with my elderly mother. He claimed to be from Microsoft. It sounds as if she has installed malware on her computer under his direction. But when he tried to sell her something for £300 she said she needed to talk to me. He said it would have been £700 if she were younger!It could have been worse. She put the phone down and disclosed no bank details, but now the computer is permanently off until we decide what to do. I am reposting this message on other similar sites to this.

An Indian sounding chap called to asked if I knew somebody from Devon who had tried to purchase a mobile phone from my amazon account. He told me to check my account and when did I last make a purchase...sounds plausible so far right? It was only when I asked him how did I know that he was from Amazon and legitimate, offered to send me an email and gave me the tel no 02081331884 to call back. He had wanted me to key in a numerical code in to my pc so that he could protect my ebay, paypal and amazon account...... obvious scam!

Tried to tell me my amazon account was compromised and someone had bought a phone on it. Sent an email as an attempt to verify themselves, which contained no official amazon logo's ect. Obvious scam, although elder people may fall victim AVOID.

I had similar experience to the above victim but I paid £175 (I made a payment via my bank account which means its immediate) for 5 yrs support by trend micro. I only had 1 laptop and the security certificate appears to be for 1 year only.

Scammer claiming to be MS "Online Help" team, saying my computer had been compromised. Quite plausible, willingly passed me to his "manager" when asked, and gave me a number to call back on. Threatened to shut down my PC ("blue screen") if I didn't respond in 20 minutes.

Strong Filipino accent, heavy interference. Apparently, I got into a non-existent accident and when question it supposedly happened 2-3 years ago, I told them to stop ringing, but he's so desperate to give me my "money", I've blocked the number now.

Strong foereign accent , loads of interference on line. Very hard to understand but continually referring to non e instant car accident. I left the phone off the hook until he got fed up talking to himself and rung off. Blocked the number but fed up of similar calls.

Phoned saying they were from Amazon Security and that someone had tried to purchase a smart phone on my account. An Asian sounding woman with the name "Jennifer Edwards"!! Asked me to check emails - they had sent instructions. No email of course. I asked for the phone number to call them back. Of course I won't.
